Skewering both horror movie tropes and racial stereotypes, “The Blackening” is a one-off video collaboration from Comedy Central and the Chicago-based improv group 3Peat and it is hilarious, both silly and smart and nothing short of a calling card for the collective talents herein.
An “Improv/Sketch/Stand Up Collective” that was created when its members became tired of being the only minority in their shows, 3Peat brings its own brand of comedy that “fits their high energy and experiences”.
The final day at the Ninth Dallas Comedy Festival, there was memorable improv from 3Peat and Danny & Arnold, plus Sasheer Zamata and more.
3Peat followed, and it’s easy to see why they got top billing. They employed the Armando format, and did so with such polish, with no dead spots or weak points, that my estimate is that they’ve been working together for about 125 years.
